iLinc Green Principles
As a Web and audio conferencing provider, iLinc Communications promotes an environmental (i.e. "green") agenda that promotes meeting online, rather than using natural resources for travel. iLinc staff and customers are encouraged to adhere to the following principles in order to positively affect the world around us and we make our businesses more profitable and more efficient.
- Recycle: Whenever possible, take advantage of recycling programs at work and at home. Know where bins are located and choose recyclable items. Office paper, old corrugated containers (OCC or cardboard), plastic, foam, aluminum, scrap ferrous metals, oil, glass, and many other products can be recycled. Also, recycle laser printer toner cartridges and copier machine developer.
- Reuse: Choose reusable items and maximize item longevity by using multiple times before disposal (e.g. water bottles; paper, plastic, or Styrofoam cups; printer or notebook paper; etc.). Switching to reusables may add to dishwashing and laundry costs, but saves on purchase of disposable goods and avoids waste disposal costs. Also, by spending a little extra money on high quality products, you will reduce waste, increase product life, and save money in the long run.
- Replace: Replace air or vehicle travel with Web conferencing when appropriate. Replace disposal items (plastic/paper/Styrofoam cups, mugs, glasses, utensils, etc.) with reusable ones. Use routing slips or bulletin boards instead of making multiple copies of documents/reports.
- Reduce: Decrease the amount of waste/garbage you create. Use energy sources efficiently (i.e. turn off lights and appliances when not needed, unplug chargers or other appliances when not in use, be conservative with air conditioning/heat/water).
- Represent: Inform / educate others on 'green" choices. Regular reinforcement and support about cost-saving recycling and waste reduction opportunities will pay off in increased efficiency, participation, and ideas. Add momentum to the "green" cause by being educated on the issue and representing it yourself.
